Instagram Unfollow Checker: No Password, No Risk
Find out who unfollowed you and who does not follow you back using the follower file Instagram already lets you download. Everything runs on your own device.
The .zip Instagram sends you, or followers_1.json and following.json from inside it.
Add one from a few weeks ago to see exactly who unfollowed you since.
Read in your browser only. Nothing is uploaded, and we never ask for your Instagram password.

How to use the Instagram unfollow checker
- 1
Request your export
In Instagram, open Accounts Center, then Your information and permissions, then Download your information. Pick only Followers and following, All time, and JSON format.
- 2
Add the file
When Instagram emails you, download the zip and drop it into the first box. There is no need to unzip it.
- 3
See who doesn't follow back
With one export, the checker lists accounts you follow that do not follow you, each linked to their profile.
- 4
Compare two exports
Add an older export in the second box to see exactly who unfollowed you between the two dates, plus new followers.
Why it uses a file instead of your login
Most unfollower apps ask you to sign in with your Instagram password. That hands your account to a stranger, and the app then acts like a bot on your behalf, which is exactly what Instagram's security systems watch for. Locked, restricted and stolen accounts often start this way.
This Instagram unfollow checker takes a safer route. Instagram already gives every user a copy of their followers and following lists. The tool reads that file in your browser, so your list never reaches our servers and there is nothing for us to store.
How to see who unfollowed you on Instagram
Instagram does not send a notice when someone leaves, and no single file records unfollows. The trick is to compare two snapshots. Keep the export you download today, request another in a week or a month, then add both. Anyone in the old list and missing from the new one appears as unfollowed.
A name on that list is not always a deliberate unfollow. Deactivated or deleted accounts, and people who block you, also drop out of your followers. A username change can show up as one person leaving and a new one arriving.
Never asks for a password
Reads the file Instagram gives you. No login of any kind.
Stays on your device
The export is read in your browser and never uploaded.
